The "Science and Technology Innovation China" - IFWT 2024 International Welding Forum, a brand academic activity of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, was held on August 14th at the Shanghai Qilu Marriott Hotel as an important international academic exchange activity held concurrently with the "Beijing Essen Welding & Cutting Exhibition". Wang Chunming, General Manager of Wuhan Xiangming Laser, was awarded the title of "Globally Influential Scholar in Welding Science".
Wang Chunming, General Manager of Xiangming Laser, has focused on laser processing technology for over 20 years. He has served as a member of the Laser Processing Committee of the Chinese Optical Society, a standing director of the Hubei Provincial Welding Society, a member of the High Energy Beam and Special Welding Committee of the Welding Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and a member of the Academic Committee of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, among other important positions. He has obtained over 20 invention patents, completed over 50 research projects in recent years, and published over 50 papers, more than 30 of which are indexed by SCI and EI. In 2015, he received the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, as well as four other provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards. In 2022, he was listed among the "Top 2% of Scientists Worldwide".
Founded in 2022, IFWT is a non-profit international academic organization dedicated to facilitating the exchange and dissemination of knowledge on welding and joining technologies among nations, actively promoting the development of advanced concepts, cutting-edge technologies, and high-end equipment in smart welding, and creating a safer and more sustainable world. This year, over 300 welding scholars from around the world participated in the conference. To recognize the outstanding contributions of experts and scholars in the field of welding science and technology, based on the WOS database's welding subject metrology analysis (2021-2023), a total of 20 welding experts worldwide received this award.
