Xiangming Laser led the drafting and participated in the formulation of my country's first national standard for laser cleaning.
On April 20, 2021, the launch meeting for the national standard "Technical Specification for Laser Surface Cleaning in Green Manufacturing" (hereinafter referred to as the "Laser Cleaning Specification") was officially held in Wuhan Optics Valley. Given the current lack of domestic and international laser cleaning standards, the formulation of this standard is urgent and will strive for release in the second half of 2022.
The laser cleaning industry has reached a preliminary stage of maturity in terms of technology and product development, cost, mass production, and practical applications, and is now exploring commercialization. However, a major challenge remains: the lack of industry-level standards.
This lack of national standards has led to inconsistent quality of laser cleaning equipment and unreliable service in the market, negatively impacting the still-developing market and hindering the commercialization of laser cleaning companies.
As early as the 2019 Laser Manufacturing Technology and Industry Development Summit Forum, Academician Yao Jianquan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering proposed the establishment of laser cleaning standards. This proposal received strong support from industry experts, who unanimously elected Mr. Wang Chunming of our company to lead the drafting of the standards.
This national standard project is led by the China Aeronautical Integrated Technology Research Institute, with Wuhan Xiangming Laser Technology Co., Ltd. as the chief drafting unit, and collaborating with the China Machinery Productivity Center, Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group, the 800th Research Institute of the Eighth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and other institutions.
Meeting Summary
Xi Daoyun, Secretary-General of the Green Manufacturing Standardization Technical Committee (China Machinery Productivity Promotion Center), Wang Xichang, Researcher at the Aviation Industry Comprehensive Research Institute, Wang Chunming, Professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and 35 expert representatives from 23 units across various fields including aviation, aerospace, rail transit, machinery, power, and defense attended the meeting to discuss the formulation of the "Laser Cleaning Specification."
Cao Bin, Deputy Director of the Comprehensive Division of the Wuhan Future Science and Technology City Construction Management Office, congratulated the meeting on its launch, stating, "Wuhan is the birthplace of China's laser industry. Xiangming Laser, as a benchmark enterprise in the laser cleaning field, has played a significant role in promoting the development of the laser cleaning industry and the laser industry in Optics Valley."
Researcher Wang Xichang from the Aviation Industry Comprehensive Research Institute introduced the project background, standard research process, and drafting plan for the "Laser Cleaning Specification." Researcher Wang Xichang stated that in recent years, laser cleaning has been widely used in industries such as aerospace, automobile manufacturing, and rail transit in China. The establishment and drafting of the national standard represents a strong integration of technological maturity and the application needs of high-end equipment.
Xi Daoyun, Secretary-General of the Green Manufacturing Standardization Committee of the China Machinery Productivity Promotion Center, outlined requirements for the drafting of the "Laser Cleaning Specification." She emphasized that the drafting process should fully consider universality, with specific, clear, and verifiable requirements, and should widely solicit opinions from relevant parties.
As the lead drafter of this standard, Mr. Wang Chunming gave a brief introduction to the development and application of laser cleaning technology. Mr. Wang stated that while my country's laser cleaning industry started relatively late, it has developed rapidly in recent years, with domestic companies like Xiangming Laser already replacing internationally advanced technologies.
Media Reports
After the drafting of the "Laser Cleaning Specification" was launched, the next two years will involve standard discussions, technical research, opinion solicitation, draft revisions, standard review, and submission for approval, aiming for its release in the second half of 2022. This will fill the gap in domestic and international laser cleaning standards. The launch meeting of this national standard project also attracted extensive coverage from numerous mainstream domestic media outlets, including the Yangtze River Daily, Chutian Metropolis Daily, Hubei TV, People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and Phoenix.com.
